Rocky Mount police arrest man suspected of shooting outside nightclub

The Rocky Mount Police Department arrested a man Tuesday wanted for a shooting on March 26 on Northeast Main Street near Tarboro Street.

Brendan Bryant, 35, turned himself in at the magistrates office, where he was interviewed by investigators and later served an arrest warrant.

Rocky Mount police had been searching for Bryant since March 28 on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Around 2:30 a.m. March 26, Rocky Mount police heard shots fired on Northeast Main Street near Tarboro Street. Investigators determined a fight involving several people happened in the parking lot as people were leaving the area nightclubs.

Police said Dynasty Brown, 49, fought with Bryant. According to police, Bryant then fired multiple gunshots from close range, striking Brown.

Then, police said, several others fired multiple shots, injuring a Amiya Tucker, 19 and Isiah Purvis, 29.

Authorities took Brown, Tucker and Purvis to UNC Health Nash Hospital. Tucker and Purvis were listed as stable. Brown was transferred to ECU Medical Center and was in serious condition.

Bryant is being held at the Edgecombe County Dentention Center under no bond.

Police are investigating two other shootings that took place overnight Saturday.

At 11:47 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to UNC Health Nash Hospital for a report of a person who had been shot in the leg. Officers found that Daquan Newell, 25, was shot during a party at Creek Ridge Crossing apartments on Sunset Avenue. Police have obtained warrants and are searching for Tyrone Conyers in that shooting.

At 12:42 a.m. Sunday, officers responded a shooting on Eagles Terrace near Foresome Lane. Police determined the shooting to be accidental. A 19-year-old was treated and released at UNC Health Nash Hospital.
