Rocky Mount mother charged in baby's death
Police said the child's mother, Vonequetta Hilliard, was charged on Friday after a review of additional evidence and recently completed medical reports.
A Rocky Mount mother was charged with second-degree murder after her child died last August.
Police said the child's mother, Vonequetta Hilliard, was charged on Friday after a review of additional evidence and recently completed medical reports.
Police said they were called to the 200 block of Kinlaw Court on July 31, 2020.
When they arrived, they found a baby suffering from a traumatic head injury.
The baby was taken to Nash UNC Health Care before being transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment. The child died at Vidant Medical Center on Aug. 21.
Hilliard was being held in the Nash County Detention Facility under $275,000 bond.
