In its third year in Raleigh, the Rock 'n' Roll marathon weekend will expand to include a 5K race on Saturday ahead of the full and half marathons Sunday.

The new, shorter race will offer runners a tour of Dorothea Dix Park.

“Dorothea Dix Park is home to many races, but runners can expect a new and authentic course for the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K,” said Katie Holmes, event manager.

The 5K begins Saturday, April 9 at 8 a.m. and will include live entertainment along the course and at a finish line music festival.
