Roanoke Rapids shopping center evacuated after bomb threat made

A Roanoke Rapids shopping center was evacuated on Tuesday as police investigated a bomb threat.

Police said someone called in a bomb threat to a business in the 1300 block of Julian Allsbrook Highway. Police found no evidence of a bomb.

The shopping center hosts a Tractor Supply Company, Ollie's Bargain Outlet and Burke's Outlet.

All the shoppers temporarily left the area. All stores eventually reopened. A public safety alert was canceled.
