WRAL News anchor and reporter Renee Chou found an endearing piece of mail on her desk when she walked into the newsroom Wednesday morning.

An 11-year-old girl from Henderson wrote to the station, saying she enjoys watching WRAL Morning News. Chou and her co-anchor Jeff Hogan are the girl's favorite, she wrote.

“Thank you for all that you do to keep us safe and ready for anything that comes our way,” the sixth-grader wrote.

She said WRAL’s new set, which launched Oct. 31, is “very pretty,” and she called the technology “breath-taking."

“Because of your show, you have inspired me to become a news anchor when I grow up,” the student said.

One day, she said, she hopes to be on WRAL News.

Chou wrote a note to the girl, encouraging her to pursue her dreams and inviting her to visit the studios.

Chou remembers watching the news with her family every evening growing up, saying it seemed exciting to report on current events. She says her mother would tell people that when Chou was as young as 5 years old, she told people she wanted to be a reporter.
