The Raleigh-Bahamas pipeline is coming to fruition.

Nonstop flights from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas will launch this fall.

Bahamasair will become RDU's 14th airline and fly from RDU on Thursdays and Sundays, beginning on Nov. 17. Bahamasair will begin service to Freeport, Grand Bahama, with connections to Nassau.

“We are excited about offering travelers nonstop service on Bahamasair to one of their favorite Caribbean destinations,” said Michael Landguth, President and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “The direct flight is less than two hours and makes for a picture-perfect getaway.”

Freeport is RDU's seventh international destination, joining cities such as London, Paris and Reykjavik.
