Raleigh WW II vet celebrated after receiving Congressional Gold Medal to the Ghost Army

A 97-year-old World War II Ghost Army veteran was congratulated for receiving a Congressional Gold Medal to the Ghost Army over the weekend.

George Dramis served in the Ghost Army, known as the first mobile, multimedia, tactical deception unit in the history of the U.S. Army.

Approximately 1,000 men and 80 officers made up the secret unit that worked to deceive German forces in the last year of the war. They were activated in January of 1944.

Dramis received the medal to plenty of fanfare at Waltonwood Lake Boone.
