Raleigh PhD student goes crazy when she wins $1,000 on TV

A Raleigh student studying for her doctoral degree was surprised with $1,000 on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' on Tuesday.

Keshia Green screamed 'Oh my God!' and the audience went wild with her when she found out she won a $1,000 check from Pilot Pen.

"I'm a PhD student so it will go toward my degree," she said. She is studying Special Education at the University of Northern Colorado.

"I love your reaction!" Clarkson told her.

The show airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on WRAL.

The show generally carries a segment at the end of every episode called “What I’m Liking” where Kelly highlights a viral piece of content she "likes." Pilot Pen additionally gives a donation of $1,000 to the subject of "What I’m Liking." For Tuesday's episode, the segment was preempted by a performance by Marie Osmond. Kelly used that time to place the check under a random audience member’s seat.

WRAL News has reached out to show representatives for more information on Green and her winnings.
