The WRAL Breaking News Tracker went to the scene on Sunday and saw the white van had what appeared to be two bullet holes in the back left door. Police did not say whether they found anyone in the van or whether anyone was shot.

On Monday, police said they said they were searching for the SUV, which was linked to a homicide investigation. That SUV and driver were located, police said Tuesday.

Police interviewed the driver of the SUV. As of Tuesday night, authorities have not filed any charges.

Raleigh police say the vehicle may be connected to a homicide on the road Sunday.

Friends and family said Williams was a handyman who was leaving a job site Sunday afternoon in his van when tragedy struck.

“I still am a little in shock," said Jenny Latimer, a friend of Williams. "Just because he is just the kindest person. And for him to be taken away by something like this it just seems like so much injustice."

Raleigh police are asking any witnesses to come forward or anyone that has video or had a camera in that area between 4 p.m. and 4:25 p.m.

“Rob was just incredibly generous and positive and loving and just really deeply cared about everyone around him, and cared about his relationships and wanted those to always be really great and [he] thought about that a lot,” Latimer said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who believes they may have information that might assist the investigation is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department at 919-996-3335 or visit Crime Stoppers at P3tips.com/89 or call 919-996-1193.
