Community concerned over Apex 'peeper' taking photos of teenage girls

Apex police are trying to identify a person seen taking pictures of teenage girls by placing his cell phone under victims' skirts at TJ Maxx at Beaver Creek Commons.

The person, described as a man in his late teens to early 20s, has committed this act on three separate occasions over recent weeks, according to police.

The latest occurrence happened on Monday, during which employees confronted him and requested he leave the store, but failed to contact police.

The young man is around 5'10" and around 150 to 170 pounds. He's fair-skinned with long brown hair and was last seen wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt with a white design on the front, black pants and "appeared to present a greasy and unkempt appearance."

The crime was described as a "Peeping Tom" scenario.

On Friday, TJ Maxx provided a statement:

“We are aware of the recent incidents that occurred in our Apex location," the company wrote. "The safety and privacy of our customers and Associates are top priorities, and we regret our customers’ experience.

"We are cooperating with the Apex Police Department during its investigation, and as this is a matter of law enforcement, we will respectfully defer any further comment to the APD.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Apex police at 919-362-8661 or email Detective M. Newman at michael.newman@apexnc.org.
