Person hit by car, killed while walking on NC 111

A person was hit by a car and killed early Tuesday morning in Wayne County.

Around 7 p.m., the person was walking on N.C. Highway 111 South near Mount Airy Road when the victim was hit by a car. That person died as a result of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.

WRAL News is working to learn the identity of the victim and whether the driver will face any charges.
