Raleigh's Peace Street ramp closes after rain delay

After months of detours, drivers leaving downtown Raleigh will get another option for accessing Capital Boulevard Friday, when the ramp from Peace Street to northbound Capital Boulevard reopens.

The access had been closed since July as part of the larger project to update and upgrade bridges over Capital.

The work was scheduled to take 90 days, but took 134 days because of weather delays.

Should the weather hold, work will shift Friday night to the southbound lanes of Capital Boulevard, where two lanes will be closed overnight just before the Wade Avenue exit.

The entire project, to replace bridges at Peace Street and Wade Avenue, was expected to be complete last month.
