Parents, bus routes to be impacted by Johnston County bridge closure

Tuesday is the first day back in class for students after spring break in Johnston County. It could take some bus riders up to 40 minutes longer to get to school.

That’s because of this closure near Buffalo Creek Bridge. Crews started working on the project last week.

It’s affecting elementary, middle and high schools across the northern part of the county.

We spoke with crews who were working here Monday. They said they’ve seen several drivers who were forced to turn around at the blockade.

The county is working to get the word out about the closure.

This will impact students commute to school until next school year. The road isn't set to reopen until October.
