Overhills HS teacher charged with giving student marijuana resigns

An Overhills High School teacher has resigned after he was charged with giving marijuana to a student, according to the Harnett County Sheriff's Office.

Edward Brock Pace, 39, of the 12000 block of N.C. 27 in Broadway, is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and deliver, delivering marijuana, maintaining a drug vehicle and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Deputies said Pace allegedly gave marijuana to a student on Monday during a meeting off school grounds.

Pace was arrested Wednesday morning at his home and resigned from his position at the school the same day, deputies said.

Pace had been released on $100,000 bond by Thursday afternoon.

According to the Fayetteville Observer, Pace was the Overhills High School Teacher of the Year for 2006-07.
