The Orange County Sheriff's Office arrested a Chapel Hill man on Thursday due to his alleged threats of communicating threats of violence at a high school.

Deputies charged Kenyon Cameron, 18, a former student at Cedar Ridge High School, with communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property after he made a series of alarming social media posts.

Early in the week, authorities received multiple reports about a disturbing social media live feed containing the threats. Following these reports, the Orange County Schools and Sheriff's Office launched a joint investigation.

Further concerns were raised through additional emails, texts and tips shared through the "See Something, Say Something" app.

The investigation of multiple social media posts made by Cameron led to concern for the safety of the school community.

Cameron turned himself in at the magistrate's office and is in the Orange County Detention Center under a secured bond.

Cameron is set to appear in court at 2 p.m. Friday.

As a precaution, the sheriff's office increased law enforcement presence at the school on Thursday and Friday.
