When police responded to a call about a shooting at a Fayetteville home, they found one person injured who later died and another person who had apparently been dead for days.

Police said Gregg Melvin, 73, called 911 from the 1600 block of Kara Court on Sept. 16. He had a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from that injury.

While at the home, officers found Roslyn Mazzilli, 82, dead of an apparent gunshot. An autopsy showed Mazzilli's wound was several days old by the time Melvin called 911.

Police classified the two deaths as a domestic incident, but asked that anyone with additional information call Detective D. Arnett at 910-929-2565.
