One dead after crash in Wayne County

One person died in a crash in Wayne County on Monday night.

The crash happened on N.C. Highway 55, near Kelly Springs Road in Mount Olive.

Troopers said the driver in a white pickup truck tried to pass another car but instead crashed into it causing it to flip.

The woman in the car died in the crash. The driver of the white pickup truck was not hurt in the crash, but was taken to a local hospital to be checked.

Troopers said charges are pending in the crash.
