Not Fried Chicken Ice Cream not on store shelves after recall

There are waiting lists online to get ice cream treats that look like fried chicken. And get this, a bucket sells for more than $100!

However, the pricey novelty ice cream called "Not Fried Chicken Ice Cream" is under recall.

It’s a creation from six-time James Beard Foundation Award semi-finalist Cynthia Wong and it’s made in Charleston, South Carolina.

Some of the foodies out there that are on TikTok or Instagram may know about it from trending videos.

The ice cream shaped like a drumstick is made of waffle ice cream, covered in caramelized white chocolate and crushed cornflakes and even has a chocolate-covered cookie "bone" in the middle.

Typically, the novelties are sold online or at Whole foods stores, but they’ve been recalled after a test done on the ice cream by South Carolina’s Health Department came back positive for listeria.

The manufacturer, Life Raft Treats, put out this statement:

"On Tuesday, September 5th, Life Raft Treats was notified of a potential contamination of product by Listeria monocytogenes. We are taking every precaution for the health of our customers. We continue to investigate to determine and address the source of contamination and are working closely with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. All production of new products is suspended until this issue is fully resolved. 5 On Your Side stopped by a Raleigh Whole Foods Friday. Employees said they did have these products. They had pulled them off the shelves as soon as they got the recall notice a few days ago.

Life Raft Treats also decided to recall "Life Is Peachy Ice Cream" treats because they were made in the same room.

Here’s the list of recalled items and the "Use By Dates" you need to be looking for:

-NOT FRIED CHICKEN ICE CREAM – 64 OZ BUCKET – USE BY DATE: Up to and including AUG 8212024

-NOT FRIED CHICKEN ICE CREAM – 2.5 OZ BAR – USE BY DATE: Up to and including AUG 8212024

-LIFE IS PEACHY – 6 COUNT – USE BY DATE: Up to and including AUG 8212024

If you have these in your freezer, you can return them for a full refund.
