Business responds to abuse claims by employees

Award-winning restaurant and bakery Neomonde posted on social media Tuesday, responding to accusations by former employees of sexual misconduct.

The post reads in part “we know we have mishandled our response to survivors ... and Neomonde is more committed now more than ever in eradicating all forms of harassment in the workplace.”

The restaurant said co-founder Sam Saleh has relinquished all operational duties. Staff members are conducting meetings with new management to address sexual harassment.

WRAL reported back in July that Neomonde launched an independent audit of its policies and procedures. Saleh announced last year he would be stepping down as president of the company.

This summer, WRAL spoke to six former employees who claimed Saleh routinely behaved inappropriately.
