Local Macaroni Kid outlets will be hosting an event this month that's aimed at helping moms find some mom friends.

Mom Friending Frenzy, which is sort of like mom speed dating, is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., April 25, at Clouds Brewing, 1233 Front St., Raleigh. Tickets are $25 and include a heavy appetizer buffet, sweet and unsweet tea, a gift bag, door prizes and more.

Nicki Medford, a Macaroni Kid publisher, held the first event about a year ago because she knows it can be hard for busy moms to make the time to find friends on their own or screw up the courage to approach that mom they see on the playground all the time.

"It's hard to put yourself out there," she told me last year. But, at the event, she said, "everybody is going to be there for the same thing."

At this month's event, Triangle Area Parenting Support will be on hand with nine hand-coordinated conversation groups to help moms find their #momfriendforever. A portion of the evening's proceeds also will support the group's work.
