NC's Students for Trump co-founder accused of hitting woman in head with a pistol

A co-founder of a student a booster group for former President Donald Trump was arrested in Johnston County last week and accused of hitting a woman in the head with a pistol.

Court documents list two charges against Selma resident Ryan Fournier, the national chairman of Students for Trump: Assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon. He was charged Nov. 21, the same day of the alleged attack, and released on a $2,500 bond, records show. He's due in court Dec. 18.

Fournier, 27, didn't immediately return messages seeking comment on Wednesday.

According to a magistrate's order, Fournier is accused of grabbing a woman by "her right arm and striking her in the forehead with a firearm" identified as a 9 MM SIG Sauer. When deputies arrived they found the victim upstairs crying with about an inch cut on her forehead and blood running down her face, according to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office.

She also had a hand print bruise on one arm, according to the sheriff's office.

On social media, Fournier has posted about gun rights and being a law-abiding gun owner.

Fournier co-founded Students for Trump in 2015. He's now executive director for a group called Radical Alert, according to his various social media platforms.

His co-founder at Students for Trump has also had legal trouble: He was sentenced in 2021 to 13 months in prison for posing as an attorney in a scam.
