North Carolina Central University on Thursday hosted a fair to introduce undergrads to the school's 27 graduate programs and post-graduate opportunities for degrees and studies.

Each program had a booth in the NC Central event center. One booth that stood out was the School of Education's, Visual Impairment program.

The VITP is a master's-level, online training program that prepares with visual impairments.

Sean Tikkun, assistant professor in the school of education, said he wanted to bring awareness of the program to students at HBCUs who could fill the roughly 100 vacancies in the state related to the field.

The program incorporates finding new ways of teaching visually impaired students, like utilizing 3D printing. Tikkun showcased a sliced 3D skull as an example of how to teach visually impaired students the anatomy of a human skull through their sense of touch.

Senior Imani Diggs, who attended the graduate fair, said she liked how organized the event was and the "go get it" attitude booth representatives had. Diggs appreciated everyone having business cards and information set out for her and other students.
