N.C. launches new online portal to help veterans receive jobs
On Monday the Office of Governor Roy Cooper announced a new online portal that will provide resources to job seeking veterans and employers.
The portal was created by the North Carolina Department of Commerce and is entitled the NCworks Veteran Portal.
“This new portal gives veterans a direct way to connect critical skills and experience gained through military service to new careers in high-demand fields..." Governor Cooper said.
The portal includes tabs and features designed to aid unemployed veterans in their job search.
One of these features is an easy-to-use job search tool that allows veterans to use their Military Occupation Codes to find jobs that match their prior experience.
The site also provides the locations of nearby NCWorks centers, where they can access services and speak with a professional who specializes in helping veterans.
Veterans who already have online accounts through NCWorks will be able to use their log in credentials to access the site, according to a written statement from the Office of Governor Roy Cooper.
“The new NCWorks Veterans Portal is an excellent example of our state’s innovative efforts to enhance services to those North Carolinians who have served our country in the armed services,” Commerce Secretary Anthony Copeland said.
The new online service is apart of Governor Cooper's N.C. Job ready strategy to help North Carolinians prepare for jobs.
