The Roanoke Rapids Police arrested and charged a mother Thursday in connection to an alleged child abuse case.

Tracey Michelle Fleming, 26, of Scotland Neck, is facing two counts of felony child abuse.

The arrest follows an investigation, with support from the Halifax County Department of Social Services.

The charges stem from allegations of intrafamilial emotional and mental torture inflicted upon two of her biological children under 16.

The incidents are reported to have occurred while the children were in her custody while living in the City of Roanoke Rapids.

Fleming was arrested and is currently at the Halifax County Detention Center.

According to the Pretrial Integrity Act of 2023, she was not given a bond due to the severe nature of the charges.

Fleming's first court date is scheduled for Feb. 22.
