A house in Moore County was destroyed by a fire on New Year's Eve, according to authorities.

Emergency responders reported a structure fire around 8 p.m. on Pinewood Drive outside West End.

The first arriving fire officer reported flames showing from the single-family structure.

According to officials, no one was inside the home at the time of the fire. There were no vehicles in the yard.

Firefighters from several stations responded to the fire. Due to the location, water had to be transported to the fire using Tanker units.

When they were called to the fire, units had been on a smoke investigation after a resident smelled smoke in the area of Tanner Lane only a short distance from this residence. This allowed for a rapid response when the fire was reported.

The cause of the fire is not known as of this report.
