Man shot in Rocky Mount dies after police find him on sidewalk

A man was shot and killed early Saturday morning in Rocky Mount.

At 12:52 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Long Avenue in reference to a ShotSpotter notification. Shortly thereafter, officers received a call about a man lying on the sidewalk in front of 931 Tessie St. 

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 39-year-old man who had been shot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
