Man's body found in mobile home in Sampson County

A man was found dead Thursday morning in a mobile home in Sampson County, and a homicide investigation is underway.

The man's body was found in a home on Leaf Lane near Clinton. According to officials, the man was found dead inside a bedroom with injuries consistent with an edged weapon.

The identity of the man was not shared.

Captain Eric Pope from the Sampson County Sheriff's Office said the mobile home park is used by seasonal agriculture workers.

Everyone in the small mobile home community said the person who died was a seasonal worker from Mexico.

Officials have identified a person of interest but could not share his or her name.

Early that same morning, five people were found shot to death in a home in Sampson County that was used for drug sales. The sheriff's office said the two incidents are not related.
