A man was rescued after falling 20 feet at a City of Raleigh wastewater treatment plant in eastern Wake County on Friday morning, officials said.

A City of Raleigh spokeswoman said the man, a contractor, fell into a dry, concrete vat. More than 40 firefighters and emergency officials responded to the scene on Battle Bridge Road.

The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the fall. He was conscious when he was rescued, officials said.

Sky 5 video showed the victim being loaded into an ambulance.

Construction on the site had been suspended during an investigation into the incident, officials said.

Occupational Safety and Health officials were on scene, and the City of Raleigh will do an internal investigation.
