Man 'plays the heck' out of bagpipes on back porch in neighborhood tradition

A Kentucky man has been entertaining his neighborhood while practicing his craft. His audience loves it.

Musician Kevin Murray's primary goal is to bring joy to his neighbors and, so far, he's doing just that. Murray has played the bagpipes for decades and practices as much as he can to stay sharp. So he heads to the back deck to play.

"I try to practice every day, but that doesn't always happen," Murray said.

It's like a free concert for the community.

On a quiet night, Murray said the music can be heard for at least a mile. Children gather, people clap, dogs bark, but overall, most folks enjoy him working at his craft.

It makes me feel [that] good people appreciate what I'm doing," Murray said. It's just kind of a neat feeling."

Murray has a fan in neighbor Richard Harless.

"He does it with a lot of passion and he plays the heck out of those pipes," Harless said.
