Man killed in crash near US 1 in Moore County

A man was killed Friday in a crash near U.S. Highway 1 in Southern Pines.

According to the Southern Pines Police Department, officers responded to the area of northeast Service Road located off of U.S. 1 between the Pennsylvania Avenue/U.S 1 on-ramp and the Middle Road exit.

When they arrived, officers located a car that had crashed. The man was taken to First Health of the Carolinas, where he later died.

The investigation is ongoing.
