Man hospitalized after home goes up in flames in Wendell

A man is in the hospital after a home went up in flames in Wendell early Monday morning.

The fire broke out shortly before 4 a.m. at a home close to Eagle Rock Road.

Crews were on the scene around 5 a.m. when the WRAL Breaking News Tracker arrived. The fire was already extinguished, but the mobile home was nearly completely destroyed.

Through the trees on the dead end road, the charred remains of the home were visible. According to crews, the flames were very large.

Fire officials said there were two people inside when the fire started, and the injured man is expected to be okay. The victim's brother spoke with WRAL News, saying they got out safely, but his brother was injured and they wanted the hospital to check him out.

Fire crews are now working to pinpoint where the fire started.
