Man hit, killed by tow truck Friday night on Avent Ferry Road

Police said the man, who was lying underneath one of the wrecker's tires, was hit when the wrecker was leaving a scene on Avent Ferry Road.

Man hit, killed by tow truck Friday night on Avent Ferry Road in Raleigh

The Raleigh Police Department on Saturday announced a man hit by a tow truck Friday night on Avent Ferry Road has died.

According to police, 59-year-old James Walker Jr. was hit after a flatbed wrecker hit him while he was lying under the right side of the vehicle near the rear tire near the Food Lion parking lot on Avent Ferry Road.

Police said Walker was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

There are currently no charges filed against the driver of the wrecker and police said the case remains under investigation.
