Man hit by car on Lake Wheeler Road, taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

A man was hit by a car Saturday night in Raleigh.

Sometime before 11:40 p.m., a car traveling north on Lake Wheeler Road hit the man.

A witness said a person was walking in the middle of road, not on a crosswalk.

The driver was cooperative and remained at the scene.

Neither alcohol nor negligent speeding is believed to be a factor.

The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No charges are expected for the driver.

Lake Wheeler Road reopened around 4 a.m.
