A man was found dead on Tuesday at his home in Cameron, and a 15-year-old boy was found shot in the head.

The Harnett County 911 center received an emergency call in reference to an assault at 12:58 a.m. Tuesday. The Harnett County Sheriff's Office said the two people shot were brothers.

"The grandparents were asleep or something best I know at this time," Sheirff Wayne Coats said. "So, they really didn't get to see anything and woke up to this."

Deputies arrived at a residence on Burslem Lane in Cameron, where they found a dead man and an injured 15-year-old boy who had both been shot. Family members said the boy shot is Quinton Jones, who is alive as of Wednesday evening. WRAL News is working to learn more about Quinton's health status.

The man who died was identified as Joshua Tyler Holland, 22, and lived at the residence on Burslem Lane.

The injured teen was transported to a hospital with a gunshot wound to his head, according to the sheriff's office.

"It should have never happened," Coats said. "Years ago, you and I have talked, you get into a fight with somebody,  a friend at school, you shake hands and its over with.

"Now, one pulls a knife out [and] the other pulls a gun out."

The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal shooting.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about this case to contact Detective Dowdy at 910-893-0153 or the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 910-893-0300.
