A man has been found guilty of human trafficking after three years of investigations from Fayetteville police.

Markus Odon McCormick was found guilty by a jury of two counts of human trafficking, five counts of felony promotion of prostitution and one count of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine.

McCormick was to serve no less than 286 months and no more than 513 months in prison. There were two total victims stemming from McCormick's crimes.

In 2018, Fayetteville officers conducted a traffic stop that led to an interview with a human trafficking victim. The woman named the person trafficking her as McCormick.

The police department estimates they poured 'hundreds of hours' into investigating McCormick over the next three years.
