Man faces 14-26 month prison sentence after pleading guilty to killing his dog

A man pled guilty to killing his dog Friday, according to the Forsyth County District Attorney's Office.

On May 7, Winston-Salem police responded to a call reporting both a domestic disturbance and "that a man was beating his dog." on Petree Road.

Officers said they found a deceased tan and white, 28-pound dog that appeared to be an American Pitt Bull when they arrived at the home. An autopsy revealed the dog died from blunt-force trauma.

Officers charged the dog's owner, Elson Warren, with one felony count of animal cruelty.
