A man was charged with breaking into and stealing electronic devices from three Sampson County schools over the past month.

A man was charged with breaking into and stealing electronic devices from three Sampson County schools over the past month.

William Bentley Jones, 34, of Clinton was charged with three counts of felony breaking and entering, three counts of felony larceny and three counts of felony possession of stolen goods.

The first break-in happened on Oct. 21 at Hobbton High School. Deputies said several electronic devices and other items were stolen from the school.

Then, deputies were called for break-ins at Hargrove Elementary School on Oct. 28 and Hargrove Elementary School on Oct. 31.

Several electronic devices were also stolen from the elementary schools, deputies said.

During the investigation, deputies and school resource officers were able to link Jones to the thefts. Upon searching his suspect's house, they found some of the stolen items.

Jones was given a $30,000 bond.
