Man charged in Poplar Drive Fire burning in Henderson County

WMBF reports a man was charged in a debris burn that led to the Poplar Drive Fire in Henderson County.

The fire, one of several in western North Carolina, started on Nov. 3. It remains 434 acres in size and is now 98% contained.

The North Carolina Forest Service said the debris burn occurred on private property on Oct. 26.

Duff Swan, 51, of Maitland, Florida, was cited and charged, according to the North Carolina Forest Service.

Officials said one home, two cabins and two outbuildings were destroyed. One home was also damaged.

The North Carolina Forest Service said two firefighters sustained minor injuries and both were treated and released.
