Man arrested after fleeing scene of multi-vehicle crash in Garner
The Garner Police Department said a man was arrested in Garner Saturday after fleeing the scene of a crash involving multiple vehicles.
Garner police said at approximately 6:47 p.m., officers responded to a crash on Timber Drive near Aversboro Road.
Police said 33-year-old Zach Darrow Kendall was traveling east on Timber Drive at a high rate of speed in a Chevrolet sedan when Kendall’s vehicle collided with a Chevrolet truck that was exiting the Lowe’s Foods shopping center. Kendall’s vehicle then went into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Edge in the westbound lanes of Timber Drive.
Police said Kendall fled the accident scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later.
Garner police said A 2-year-old child, a 5-year-old child, and 2 adults were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Kendall was arrested and charged with felony hit and run, careless and reckless driving, and driving while impaired.
