Major Raleigh intersection to close for water, sewer construction until February

There will be partial closures at the intersection of Halifax Street, Peace Street, N. Wilmington Street and N. Salisbury Street. Crews will be completing a water and sewer line installation for the Seaboard project starting Tuesday at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Feb. 7.

A major intersection in Raleigh will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday for water and sewer construction.

There will be partial closures at the intersection of Halifax Street, Peace Street, N. Wilmington Street and N. Salisbury Street.

Crews will be completing a water and sewer line installation for the Seaboard project starting Tuesday at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Feb. 7. 

Detours

Wilmington Street – Drivers wanting to turn left or go straight from N. Wilmington Street should follow the direction on the message board and turn left before the closure on to Lane Street, then a right on N. McDowell Street/Capital Boulevard. 

Drivers wanting to access Halifax Street should take the Peace Street exit, right on Peace Street then a left onto Seaboard Station, right on Seaboard Avenue then a left onto Halifax Street.

For drivers on N. Wilmington Street north of Lane Street, it is advised to go towards the intersection closure then turn right on Peace Street, right on N. Blount Street, a right on Lane Street and then take the route noted previously.

N. Salisbury Street – Drivers wanting to turn left from E. Peace Street onto Salisbury Street should follow the direction on the message board and turn left before the closure to N. Blount Street then take a right on Lane Street.

Drivers wanting to access N. Salisbury Street north of Lane Street should turn right onto N. Wilmington Street, then continue north around the curve to N. Salisbury Street.

Drivers wanting to access N. Salisbury Street south of Lane Street should continue on Lane Street then take a left onto N Salisbury Street.

Halifax Street (southbound) – Drivers wanting to turn left or go straight from Halifax Street should turn right on Seaboard Avenue, left on Seaboard Station, left on Peace Street.

Business Access – Business access will be via Seaboard Station Avenue for the duration of the closure. Signs noting business access will be prominent along W. Peace Street and other streets.

All businesses will remain accessible and open throughout the closure.

Pedestrian detours are already in place.

Cyclists are to follow the referenced detours.

Transit routes and stops in the area will be affected and addressed by GoRaleigh as per their standard processes.
