Longtime Wake County Commissioner Betty Lou Ward dies at 87

Longtime Wake County Commissioner Betty Lou Ward has died. She was 87 years old.

She served as Wake County commissioner for 28 years – from 1988 to 2016.

Funeral services will be held on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. at Edenton Street United Methodist Church at 228 W. Edenton Street in Raleigh.
