Kwame Mbalia's Salted Caramel Cookie Dough at Two Roosters (Two Roosters)

Two Roosters is known for its fun collaboration ice cream flavors and this month is no exception.

For May, the Raleigh-based ice cream shop has unveiled a slate of flavors in honor of six local children's authors. In some cases, the the flavors have come right from the pages of their books.

Here's a rundown of the flavors with descriptions from Two Roosters:

Kwame Mbalia's Salted Caramel Cookie Dough - Kwame describes his writing as a combination of flavors with hidden textures. He also loves all things caramel, so we made a caramel base and ripple with cookie dough chunks.

Stacy McAnulty's Chocolate Almonds and Fudge - Stacy loves chocolate and says her writing has lots of twists and turns so we added a fudge ripple and sliced almonds, her favorite book tour snack.

Gillian McDunn's Desperation Butter Pie - Straight from Gillian's new book HONESTLY ELLIOTT, we bake simple vanilla "desperation pies" and crust, then toss them into a vanilla base.

Kelly Starling Lyons' Banana Pancakes & Maple Crunch - In Kelly's JADA JONES chapter books, Jada's dad makes her favorite banana pancakes. We were inspired to do a banana pancake base with bits of maple crunch.

Scott Reintgen's Oatmeal Cookie Latte - Scott likes to drink vanilla lattes when he writes his novels and enjoys a good oatmeal cookie. So we combined the best of both of his worlds.

Ali Standish's Raspberry Lemonade Sorbet - In Ali's book AUGUST ISLE, one of the kids falls in love with a raspberry lemonade ice cream. So we transformed it into a non dairy sorbet version.

You can get these flavors all month at Two Roosters' location at 7713 Lead Mine Road in Raleigh.

Two Roosters will be hosting two "Kid Lit Author" ice cream socials at Quail Ridge Books. The first will be Friday, May 6, from 4 to 6 p.m featuring authors Ali Standish, Stacy McAnulty and Kelly Starling Lyons who will be there signing books and sharing their ice cream flavors. The second social will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m with authors Kwame Mbalia and Gillian McDunn.
