Tips To Save on School Supplies
1. Make a shopping list for all needed supplies and clothing. Use the school supply list from the school your child attends to make sure you get everything you need and you don't overbuy items they don't need.
2. Set a budget and let your child know about the spending limit. Let your child help make choices that keep you within the budget.
3. Shop your house first for school supplies left over from last year that are in good shape or extras that you did not use that can be included in the supplies for this year.
4. Shop the back to school sales that start every year in late July and run through the beginning of September for the top deals on supplies like paper, notebooks, crayons, rulers, pencils, pens, index cards, dividers, folders, markers, pencil sharpeners and more. Consider buying the top deals at multiple stores to take advantage of the best buys. But keep in mind that if you have to drive a long distance to get to multiple stores, you may be spending more in gas than you are saving with the sales.
5. Use coupons and rewards from retail stores for additional discounts. For instance, if you are shopping at Target, make sure you look for any Target Circle offers before you shop and if you are a Target RedCard holder, you’ll get an additional 5% off on most supplies.
