Two law firms are being sued for the way they tried to sign up clients for Lejeune toxic water lawsuits.

5 On Your Side dug through the suit that claims Levin Law and the Principal Law Group were behind telemarketing calls to people who were on the Do Not Call Registry.

The person suing, Diana Mey of West Virginia, claims she got multiple illegal telemarketing calls in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the suit, Mey said that, during these calls, she was told she was speaking with a paralegal from Principal Law Group and that Principal would eventually partner with a bigger firm, Levin Law, to file claims involving toxic water at Camp Lejeune.

Mey’s suit claims thousands of these calls were made by the firms and wants this to become a class-action lawsuit so that others who are on the National Do Not Call Registry and got these calls can be paid damages.

In court filings, Levin Law said they don’t have have any direct ties to the solicitation calls. Principal Law Group says they did not initiate, direct or control the calls to the plaintiff.

This week, a judge denied both law firm’s request to dismiss the case.
