Johnston County man recognized for heroic efforts in saving family from house fire

A Johnston County man was recognized Monday for helping save a family of four from a fire.

The incident happened back in June, when Roger Dickerson was inside his garage on Cattle Farm Drive and heard a popping sound. He then realized his neighbor's house was on fire.

Dickerson broke down the door and helped the whole family get out.

Johnston County Commissioners and Emergency Services Monday presented him with the Partners in Protection Award, thanking him for his heroic efforts.
