Humble Pie announced Sunday it has closed its beloved downtown Raleigh restaurant.

The restaurant, located at 317 S. Harrington St. in Raleigh's Warehouse District, has been a staple in the community for 33 years.

Humble Pie posted on Instagram: "With full and heavy hearts we will turn out the lights after service this week ... we are full of gratitude and beyond thankful for the guests who chose to dine with us."

The owners did not post a reason for the sudden closing, and the post was flooded with comments.

Comments on Instagram mentioned Humble Pie's outdoor dining space, delicious burgers and famous crispy Brussels sprouts.

"I’ve been trying to write something for the past 10 minutes but can’t because my eyes are full of sweet salty tears," one fan wrote.

Others wrote about celebrating anniversaries, graduations and birthdays at the restaurant, which had a menu of southern staples like burgers, buttermilk fried chicken, seafood and desserts like bread pudding and chocolate torte.

Humble Pie also had a large event space that was home to wedding receptions, jazz nights, parties and more.

There was no word about what will become of the space.
