High Point Central's DeLile dominates 3A Midwest Regional, leads Bison to team title

High Point Central senior Davis DeLille was a dominant force in the 3A Midwest Regional Championship at the Country Club of Salisbury on Monday, winning the individual title by five strokes.

DeLille finished the day with an impressive score of 5-under par 66 — five strokes ahead of second place Talan Harrison of Northwest Cabarrus.

The impressive finish by DeLille helped High Point Central to the team regional championship as well. The Bison posted a combined score of 312, beating Lake Norman Charter by 11 strokes.

Hunter Busick (80), Ryley Johnson (82), and Ian White (84) all contributed to High Point Central's team championship.

Lake Norman Charter finished the team race with a score of 323, led by Will Dalton's 5-over par 76. Garson Long (78), Brady Rowland (82), and Patrick Royster (87) also qualified for the Knights.

Rockingham County claimed the final spot in the state championship as a team, led by Luke Crouse's fifth place finish with a score of 5-over par 76. The Cougars also had help from Blaine Cayton (79), Ryder Wilmouth (80), and Colby Gunter (91).

Individual qualifiers from the 3A Midwest include Talan Harrison of Northwest Cabarrus (71), Cooper Burris of Northwest Cabarrus (74), Alexaner Murphy of Central Academy of Technology & Arts (75), Landon Merrell of East Rowan (76), William Cranfield of Carson (76), Ryan Masterton of Central Cabarrus (79), Seth Houser of Central Davidson (79), Jackson Black of South Rowan (79), and McGwire Owen of West Rowan (79).

Monday's regional championship at the Country Club of Salisbury featured a 6,554-yard par-71 course with a slope of 131.

Next week's state championship will be a two-day tournament at Pinehurst No. 6.
