Pitt County Animal Services on Tuesday rescued a stray horse walking down the middle of a road.

According to the Greenville Police Department, they received a call about a horse walking down the middle of MacGregor Downs Road.

Greenville officers were able to locate the horse's owner, learning the horse, named "Bobo," ran away after getting into a scuffle with a stallion.

Bobo's owner had a broken shoulder and couldn’t lead Bobo, so one police officer walked Bobo home and another rode behind them with her caution lights on to slow traffic.

Bobo was returned home safely and was placed in a pasture without the stallion in it.

The Greenville Police Department shared the photo on Facebook, writing, "a little adventure is good for the soul."
