Got a theatre kid at home? Then, you might want to check out this program at Durham Performing Arts Center.

Next Stop BROADWAY is a a week-long performing arts program that includes classes, workshops and rehearsals focused on classic Broadway shows. It will take place July 11-15, 2022. The program is for children ages 10 to 17 years old and costs $550 (not including taxes and fees).

Paid registration opens at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 and there are only 80 spaces available. It' first com, first served and registration has sold out within hours in the past.

Now if the $550 price is too expensive for your family to afford, there are 20 scholarships available for students to attend at no charge. Scholarship applications are online and must be submitted by May 13, 2022. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants with financial needs and interest in the performing arts.

Broadway veteran Tony Parise is the program's director. He and other Broadway professionals will teach the students

A staff of esteemed Broadway professionals, headed by Broadway veteran Tony Parise, will teach the students ensemble songs and choreography from hit shows from the “Golden Age of Broadway."

The students will also be creating their own unique skits based on upcoming shows headed to DPAC.

The week will end with an “Opening Night” performance on DPAC's main stage for family and friends.
