Donations pour in for Fuquay-Varina mother with stage four breast cancer

A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $100,000 for a Fuquay-Varina mother of four who is being treated for stage-four breast cancer out-of-state.

Danielle McKean said she is in Arizona for her treatments because her insurance denied covering a drug needed to help her treatment.

While McKean is getting the treatment she needs at clinic in Arizona that specializes in late-stage cancer treatment, she said her family has to continue to pay out-of-pocket costs for her medical treatment.

Despite the adversity, McKean said she remains grateful.

"My mom said something that stuck with me," McKean said. "Very few people get to see how much they are loved in their lifetime."

She said the support can be overwhelming at times.

"I've seen so much love in the past six months," McKean said. "Thank you God for loving me so much, it means everything."

While the GoFundMe has raised over $100,000, it only covers roughly half the cost of her expenses, as the goal of the campaign is $225,000.

Those who would like to donate to McKean's medical expenses can donate to the GoFundMe here.
